All About Words from a Mama:

Well hello there, my name is Katie. Firstly, welcome to ‘Words from a Mama’ and thank you for taking the time to check out my blog and navigating here to learn more about me. My husband and I have two beautiful children – one thriving toddler girl named Parker and a new baby boy named Oliver!

Here are some pictures, because a Mama has to brag:

As a background on me, I am a mathematician and data scientist during the day as a professional. I was never one of those girls who dreamed about growing up and being a mother…I thought I wanted kids, but I am a Type A go-getter who also enjoyed becoming a successful career-woman and climbing the corporate ladder.

All of that changed after having kids. As a working mom, I really struggled going back to my full time corporate job and spending countless hours away from my children. As a working mom, I struggle with #momguilt and work guilt too. I feel like if I’m doing well at work, I am failing at home. If I am doing well at home, I’m not giving enough at work. It’s hard…it’s really really hard. I feel judged by society and other moms for leaving my children and judged at work for having other priorities than just work.

I started this blog as a side hustle hoping that one day I will be able to make enough to retire from the rat race and spend my days with my children and nights sharing my experiences with you. I want to help other moms by sharing what I have learned along the way through trial and error – what works, what doesn’t, how to handle the mom guilt, the pressure to “have it all”, and to save you time and money by sharing products that work well and products that don’t.

Finally, I feel that we, as a society and internally, put too much pressure on mothers to be perfect and “to do it all” and leave out the imperfection that we all experience. I want to be careful to share with you reality, and not a carefully curated view (that I see so often on Instagram feeds) only highlighting the beautiful moments of parenthood. I am a real mom, and I want to share that reality with you so that you know you aren’t alone. The sometimes dirty toddler faces, the imperfectly kept home, and the tired mom eyes at the end of the day. Thank you for coming along on this journey with me!

Feel free to leave me a comment with your thoughts/suggestions or sharing something about yourself. I’d love to learn more about you and connect!

Love,

Katie
