Freshly Picked Diaper Bag – Overview

The Freshly Picked Diaper bag is made from Vegan Leather with a wipeable and stain-resistant Nylon Lining inside. There is a large central compartment which has a zipper closure and a magnetic flap over top. This provides the central spacious storage for the bag. Additionally, this diaper bag features 10 total pockets for maximum organization and storage with an electronics sleeve. 6 of these pockets are on the inside and 4 are on the exterior. The compartments on the sides of the exterior will hold standard water bottles or other bottles to give easy access.

There is also a handle at the top to easily grab and go. The overall size of the diaper bag is 15″ H x 13” W x 7” D and it weighs in at just over 2 pounds. The diaper bag cost varies a bit by style, sales and where you buy it, but it’s generally between $175 and $199. A fairly hefty price tag for a diaper bag in my opinion.

Freshly Picked Diaper Bag: Details & Features

A nylon changing pad that matches the color of the bag also comes included in the central compartment. It folds up very compactly, making storage a breeze.

An optional shoulder strap is also included to make the bag wearable in three different ways. The bag features metal snaps on the side which you can open up for additional capacity for storage. When closed, they help make a clean minimal footprint for the bag.

The bottom of the bag has metal feet to sit on, which helps to keep the bag off of the ground, clean and germ-free. Additionally, all of the hardware on the bag is custom matte finished, and the zippers on the bag are easy glide YKK zippers. The newer style of the bag (the Classic II) features padded straps for additional comfort.

Finally, the Classic diaper bag is currently available in 17 different colors or styles, giving you a plethora of options to choose from. Freshly Picked often partners with exclusive brands and offer limited styles as well, so keep an eye out for those. Some of my favorites have been the Harry Potter and Disney styles they introduced previously.

Multiple Ways to Wear

One really unique feature about this bag is that it can be worn in three different ways: as a crossbody, as a backpack and as a purse. You can simply add or remove the included stroller strap to convert from a backpack into either the crossbody or purse option. Nothing about the bag’s look changes to wear in those other two styles (i.e. it doesn’t zip apart or fold up in some other way). So it looks a bit like wearing a backpack styled bag as a crossbody or carrying as a purse over your shoulder.

Additional Accessories

You can buy additional accessories available to go along with your Freshly Picked Diaper Bag as well. The most important of which, in my opinion at least, are these stroller clips.

Stroller Clips

These allow you to easily clip the diaper bag to your stroller. I really like having these with my diaper bags, and many options will actually come with these clips included. Not the case with this bag, but at least they sell them. They’ll set you back a pretty penny at $29. You could always look for a similar color matching option on Amazon for less, such as these.

You can also purchase a matching zip pouch and a stroller caddy to go along with your Freshly Picked Diaper bag.

Freshly Picked Diaper Bag – My Final Thoughts

One of my favorite things about this bag is the way that it looks. It’s clean, beautiful and I really love the overall aesthetic; it doesn’t scream diaper bag like many of the other options on the market. So Freshly Picked definitely gets points there, but one of the most important features of the bag is the storage capacity. This is an absolute must have for a diaper bag, and regardless of how beautiful it looks, this was my main concern. Boy did it stand up here! I can fit all of my baby gear PLUS my work things in this diaper bag, which is truly incredible. It can handle diapers, wipes, pacifiers, baby bottles, a change of clothes, my wallet, phone, laptop, water bottle, and snacks. It all fits in! For this reason alone, I would highly recommend this Freshly Picked diaper bag.

I found the bag to be durable, and it seems like it will last for a very long time. It’s wipeable to clean and spill-resistant. I’ve gotten a number of smears on the outside of the bag, and simply took a wet paper towel and was able to get it off. I also spilled some sunscreen on the interior of the bag, and was able to easily get that out with a wet rag.

As far as drawbacks, I really only found the bag functional as a backpack. While there is a strap included to wear in the other configurations, I didn’t find them very practical. It felt like more of a marketing gimmick to me. The bag still looks like a backpack even when you add a strap. I found it a bit bulky as a crossbody and not quite the right shape to be a purse.

I will also say that you do have to do some juggling with the compartments and pockets if you really want to maximize the amount of items you are carrying. If you overstuff the interior pockets, it will steal space from the exterior pockets. So something to keep in mind as you are filling and using the diaper bag.

Another con I saw during my research is that some folks have had issues with the zippers not working properly or the bag peeling. If you get a defective bag, you can work with the seller to get a replacement. I didn’t have any of these issues, but seemed like those who did received great customer support and were able to get a replacement.

Freshly Picked Business

Finally, I like to support small businesses whenever I can with my purchases…especially as I run one of my own. I find it a huge plus that this diaper bag is made by a small woman-owned business. Freshly Picked was created by Susan Petersen in 2009, who created the cult classic leather moccasins by Freshly Picked.

  • Spacious with Lots of Storage
  • Functional
  • Beautifully Designed
  • Well-made and durable
  • Spill-resistant and Easy to Clean

  • Expensive
  • Stroller Straps Not Included
  • “Wear 3 Ways” feels like a bit of a gimmick for advertising

Overall, I feel that the Pros outweigh the cons for me. I appreciate the thoughtful design of this diaper bag. I generally like the backpack style for a diaper bag because it allows me to have my hands free for wrangling my kiddos. It stands apart from other choices on the market because it is both beautiful and functional. The storage capacity feels just right…I can fit quite a lot without having an enormous bulky bag. If you’re looking for a great diaper bag, the Freshly Picked Classic Bag is definitely worth a look.
