We are reaching the end of that precious newborn stage. It’s so bittersweet as my little baby outgrows his clothes but is finally starting to give us some much needed stretches of sleep and gracing us with dimple-y smiles. I thought it would be worth sharing some of our favorites this time around with baby #2. Every baby is different, and we are no longer first timers…so we have some new favorites this time around:

Magic Merlin Sleepsuit

Magic Merlin Sleepsuit

Oliver got annoyed very early with being swaddled and having his arms confined. We initially tried using the halo swaddle sleepsacks with one arm out, but he wasn’t a fan. Enter the magic Merlin sleepsuit. It’s meant to be a swaddle transition product that lets their arms be free but that dampens their movement (therefore helping to prevent their startle reflex from waking them up all night). Babies look a bit like the Michelin man in it, but Ollie loves being warm and snuggled in this thing.

Baby Susher

Baby Susher

This is basically just a little machine that makes a “shhhhh” sound over and over again. I was gifted it during my first pregnancy and honestly I thought it was silly. However, I found myself calming Oliver with the “shhh” sound myself and decided to whip this out. He really seems to like it, which makes this mama a happy camper.

Boppy Lounger

Boppy Lounger

This is another new purchase this time around that has been super helpful. Oliver LOVES laying in his whale boppy lounger. I love that it’s portable, and it gives me a comfy place to quickly put him when I can’t hold him.

Burt’s Bees Zip up sleepers

Burt's Bees Zip Up Sleepers

I am a big believer in comfy and easy to get on clothes in the newborn stage. Those outfits with all the buttons and frills are adorable, but not worth the struggle (or cost given how quickly babies grow). I love these sleepers because they are so soft, organic, easily zip up, come in simple designs, and hold up through many washes. They’re totally worth giving them try, but they do run a bit small so you may need to size up.

Pampers Aqua Pure Wipes

Oliver had a bad case a diaper rash that started when he was in the hospital. To clear it up, we had to use soft wash cloths and water for a time before reintroducing wipes. When we did, we tested out many different brands and these were our favorite by far. They are 99.9% water, they are super soft, stay wet, and have a nice thickness to them. Love them and highly recommend them!

Boobie Body Protein Shakes

Chocolate Boobie Body Superfood Shake

For all you breastfeeding moms out there – these are protein shakes designed to support nursing moms (or really any mom) with good nutrition and ingredients intended to boost lactation. I like the Chocolate Bliss flavor and have one every day with almond milk and almond butter. They are organic, dairy free, gluten free and vegan since the protein is derived from peas. Unlike other shakes, these are easy on my tummy, so they get a huge thumbs up from me. You can find these at Target or online.

Smilo Nursing Pads

Smilo Nursing Pads

I can’t recommend these highly enough. These are the softest nursing pads I have ever used and for that alone they won my heart. Who wants stuff scratchy pads rubbing up against their nips? Not me…buy these and you won’t regret it.

Nursing Bras

Nursing Bras

These are super comfortable, affordable, and come in a pack with many different colors. I live in these around my house. When I need to go out of the house, I use this amazing push-up nursing bra. It eliminates the mom boobs and makes me not feel like a milk machine.

Mam Pacifiers and Bottles

Mam bottles and pacifiers

I’ll repeat the mantra here that every baby is different. With our first, she took to Dr. Brown’s bottles and pacifiers, but Oliver loves his Mam products. The bottles come with a built in bottom that can be used to sanitize the nipples, which is unique. Mostly, I just love these because Oliver will use them.

Boogie Bottoms Diaper Rash Cream Spray

Boogie Bottoms No Rub Diaper Rash Spray

This idea is so simple that I’m surprised there arent a lot more of these on the market. It’s a sprayable diaper rash cream. Oliver has had a lot more rash problems than we ever had with Parker and this stuff is a lifesaver. So easy to use and when you use it consistently (which is easy to do since all it requires is a quick spray) it is so effective.
